Family: Muscicapidae
The european robin is a bird species extant across Europe, northern Africa, and the westernmost end of Asia. It’s a small bird, about 15cm in length from beak to tail, and very round—especially in the winter.
The adult’s plumage is unmistakable: they have a large, orange patch covering the face, throat and chest. The rest of the plumage is a greenish brown color across the back and white on the underside. On the other hand, juveniles that haven’t molted yet are brown with yellowish spots.

Its area of distribution changes throughout the year. During the colder months, it migrates southward, disappearing altogether from the northernmost regions of Eurasia. Nonetheless, many populations are sedentary and do not migrate.
This bird’s song is very well-known, being a melodious whistle with a somewhat irregular pattern.
